WELCOME TO ALEXIS VFD

Alexis Fire Department is a combination department, protecting approximately 40 square miles and operating out of two stations. The main station is located on Highway 27 in Alexis, NC and our substation is located on Old Plank Road in Iron Station, NC. Our membership is comprised of 45 personnel, most of which are volunteer. Along with the traditional responsibilities of a fire department we also are certified in medical and heavy rescue response, and respond to incidents as such. Since our inception 50 years ago, each member of the department proudly accepts the responsibility the department has to the citizens of the Alexis Fire District, to provide the best fire protection, emergency medical, and rescue services.

TAN204KER RESPONDS TO ASSIST EAST GASTON WITH HOUSE FIRE

Tuesday, January 18, 2011 10:35am   Tanker 204 responded to assist Station 30 East Gaston with a reported house fire in the 5400 block of Hickory Grove Rd. Engine 300 (EG) Tanker 204 and Engine 32 (Community) all arrived together to find a two story brick residential structure with light smoke showing from the attic area. A 1 3/4 line was put into play off Engine 300.  Crews from EG and Community entered the structure and found a upstairs bedroom on fire.  The fire was contained to the bedroom area but the upstairs sustained smoke and heat damage. A crew from Alexis and Community preformed a search and checked for fire extension.  The first was under control in about 15 minutes.  All occupants were out of the structure and there were no reported injuries.  Stanley FD also responded a to the call.

FATAL HOUSE FIRE ON GILROY RD ( LINCOLN CO.)

Sunday, January 9, 2011 00:18   Engine 200, 203, and Tanker 204 responded to a reported house on fire on Gilroy Rd off Rhyne Forest Dr. Firecenter advised that the occupant was still inside the residence. Engine 200 arrived on the scene within 4 minutes of dispatch to find a single story brick structure with heavy fire and smoke showing through the roof. Two lines were laid on the ground and Alexis Firefighters started knocking down the fire. The fire was brought under control in about 20 minutes and the victim was located. Sadly to say that the occupant was deceased when firefighters located the occupant. There was extensive salvage and overhaul operations conducted on the structure. The Lincoln County Fire Marshals office and the SBI were called out to investigate the fire. Boger City and East Lincoln Fire Departments also responded to assist.

     

 

TREE FALLS ON HOUSE

Saturday, January 8, 2011   Engine 201 and Brush 207 responded to the 700 block of Canada Dr off Rhyne Rd for a reported tree on a house. Alexis units arrived and found a tree had fallen on a house and had some major structural damage. All occupants were out of the house and nobody was injured. Firefighters cut some limbs off the tree and placed a tarp on the roof.

     

 

ENGINE 200 ASSISTS BOGER CITY WITH HOUSE FIRE.

Friday, January 7, 2011 01:31  Engine 200 responded to the 2700 block of Southmont Dr off Mt. Vernon Church Rd for a reported structure fire. Initial reports from dispatch was subjects possibly trapped inside. Boger City Truck 40 arrived to find a single wide mobile home with heavy smoke showing. Truck 40 advised all subject were out of the residence and accounted for. Engine 200's crew assisted with fire attack and salvage on overhaul operations. South Fork VFD also responded on the alarm

     

 

2010 SANTA RIDE

Saturday, December 18, 2010 11:00  The Alexis Fire Department would like to thank all our Volunteers that helped Santa make his way around the Alexis Community in the cold and snow. The smiles that we saw on the parents and kids faces makes it all worth while.  We would like to wish everyone a very  MERRY  CHRISTMAS.

     



 

ICY ROAD CAUSES VEHICLE TO OVERTURN

Thursday, December 16, 2010 07:40    A wintry mix brought several wreck across Gaston and Lincoln Counties this morning.  While Engine 203 and 200 were on the structure fire with East Lincoln, Engine 201 responded to the 2600 block of Mariposa Rd in our Lincoln Co first due for a reported MVA. Engine 201 arrived to find a single vehicle accident with the vehicle overturned. The driver of the vehicle was out on our arrival and was uninjured. Engine 201's crew stood by til SHP arrived and cleared. After clearing this call, around 09:30, Engine 201 responded to a MVA with injuries on Mauney Rd in Gaston Co.

     

 

ASSIST EAST LINCOLN WITH WORKING STRUCTURE FIRE

Thursday, December 16, 2010 07:03 Engine 203 and 200 assisted East Lincoln with a commerical business fire on Hwy 16 South near the intersection of Old Plank Rd. Engine 30 arrived to find a single story garage with an attached office 40% involved. Engine 203 supplied water to EL Engine 30. Engine 200 arrived and with the driver assuming pump operations on Engine 30. The fire was brought under control within 20 min. Alexis units were clear at 08:39,  Denver Fire Department also assisted on the alarm.

   


 

ALEXIS UNITS ASSIST EAST LINCOLN WITH WORKING STRUCTURE FIRE

Thursday, December 16, 2010 07:03 Engine 203 and 200 assisted East Lincoln Fire with a working commerical business fire on Hwy 16 South near Old Plank Rd. Engine 30 (EL) arrived to find a single story garage with a attached office 40% involved. Engine 203 arrived and supplied water to Engine 30.  Engine 200 arrived and the driver assumed the pumping operations of Engine 30. The fire was brought under control in about 20 minutes. All Alexis units were clear at 08:39.  Denver Fire Department  responded on the alarm also.

   
 

HOUSE FIRE ON MARIPOSA RD

Thursday, December 16, 2010 02:54  Engine 201, 200, and 203 responded to a reported chimney fire with smoke in the structure on Mariposa Rd near Abernathy Way. Engine 201 arrived to find heavy smoke coming from the attic area. East Gaston, Lucia, and Stanley Fire Departments arrived and assisted with manpower. Crews had to remove ceiling and brick away from the chimney to gain access to the fire. There was extensive salvage and overhaul operations. Crews also removed the outside boxing away from the chimney area.
