WELCOME TO ALEXIS VFD

Alexis Fire Department is a combination department, protecting approximately 40 square miles and operating out of two stations. The main station is located on Highway 27 in Alexis, NC and our substation is located on Old Plank Road in Iron Station, NC. Our membership is comprised of 45 personnel, most of which are volunteer. Along with the traditional responsibilities of a fire department we also are certified in medical and heavy rescue response, and respond to incidents as such. Since our inception 50 years ago, each member of the department proudly accepts the responsibility the department has to the citizens of the Alexis Fire District, to provide the best fire protection, emergency medical, and rescue services.

Vehicle Fire (Lincoln County)

Thursday, August 8, 2013   Station 20 Alexis & Station 3 East Lincoln were dispatched to a vehicle fire threatening a structure in the area of Mariposa Road & Fallwood Lane. Engine 201 & Tanker 205 responded as well as Engine 30 from East Lincoln. Engine 201 arrived on scene along with Tanker 205 and advised that we had a fully involved vehicle fire about 10 ft away from a structure. E-201 & E-30's crews extinguished the fire within minutes of the initial time of arrival. Lincoln County FMO was notified and asked to come to the scene. Engine 30 was cleared by command, and Alexis units remained on scene awaiting the arrival of 1204. He arrived on scene, and all 20 units clear and in-service. 

     



 

Lincoln County Flooding

Friday, July 5, 2013  Station 20 was dispatched to the area of Orchard Road & Horseback Trail for a possible flood across the roadway. Brush 207 responded and arrived on scene to find a large mass of moving water 50-75 ft in width across the roadway. Brush 207 remained on scene until the flooding was gone off of the roadway and it was safe for our citizens to cross. Thank you East Lincoln FD for supplying us barricades to close off that section of the roadway while we handled another flooded roadway right up the street!

     



 

MUTUAL AID FOR SPENCER MT ON WORKING HOUSE FIRE

Sunday, March 17, 2013    Engine 200 responded to assist Station 18 ( Spencer Mt ) on a reported structure fire in the 700 block of Dallas Spencer Mt Rd.  Engine 180 arrived to find a single story wood frame structure with heavy fire and smoke showing. Two 1 3/4 lines were put into play and vertical ventilation was preformed.  Everyone was out of the residence and there was no injuries reported. Departments that responded were, Spencer Mt, Ranlo, Alexis, and East Gaston.

   


 

ENG200INE RESPONDS MUTUAL AID FOR LUCIA ON MOBLE HOME FIRE

Saturday, March 16, 2013    Engine 200 responded to assist Station 31 ( Lucia Riverbend ) with a reported mobile home fire on Tillman Rd off Cox Lake Rd. Lucia Engine 311 arrived to find a single wide mobile home fully involved. Engine 311 make a quick knock down on the fire. Engine 200 arrived and supplied water and manpower. There were no injuries reported and the Gaston County Fire Marshal's Office was called out to investigate. Stanley Fire also responded.

   


 

ENG203INE RESPONDS TO A OUTBUILDING FIRE ON TOPAZ LN (LINCOLN CO BASE 2)

Friday, March 8, 2013    Engine 203 responded to assist East Lincoln with a reported structure fire on Topaz Ln off Ingleside Farm Rd. Engine 203 and Engine 30 arrived to fire a outbuilding fully involved, with the fire threatening a residential structure. Firefighters protected to residence with a 1 3/4 line and another on attacked the fire. Denver arrived and supplied 203 and assisted with manpower. The fire was brought under control in about 10 minutes. East Lincoln command requested the Fire Marshal's to investigate. Lucia Riverbend also assisted with a tanker.

   


 

VEHICLE OVERTURNED WITH ON ENTRAPPED

Wednesday, February 27, 2013   Engine 201 responded to Louise Dr and Mauney Rd for a MVA , vehicle on its side with one entrapped. Engine 201 arrived, stabilized the vehicle, and  extricated the patient out the front windshield. The patient  was transported to GMH.

   


 

TANKER 204 RESPONDS TO ASSIST TRYONOTA WITH COMMERCIAL BUSINESS FIRE

Sunday, February 24, 2013   Just before midnight, Tryonata, Ag Center, Crouse, Hugh's Pond, and Waco were dispatched to 235 R and S Access Rd for a reported commercial business fire at the Gatza Marble Plant just outside Cherryville. Tryonota units arrived to find heavy fire and smoke showing from the building. All available tankers in the county was requested to respond to assist. Tanker 204 responded and cleared about 5am. The fire is still under investigation.

Departments on the scene were: Tryonota, Ag Center, Hugh's Pond, Crouse, Waco, Dallas, High Shoals, Alexis, Community, Crowders Mt., East Gaston, Lowell, New Hope, South Point, Spencer Mt, Stanley, Union Rd, And Cherryville.

     



 

HEAD ON COLLISION ALEXIS-LUCIA RD

Wednesday, January 23, 2013    Engine 200, 203, QRV 208, and Car 20 responded to Alexis-Lucia Rd near the intersection of Mariposa Rd for a head -on collision. QRV 208 arrived and advised both drivers were entrapped. Engine 200 arrived and started extrication on the mini-van. Engine 203 and Car 20 arrived and started extrication on the driver of the second vehicle. Both drivers were extricated and transported to GMH one with minor injuries and the other with serious injuries. Alexis-Lucia Rd was shut down for about and hour while SHP investigated the accident.

     



 

2012 Awards

Saturday, January 19, 2013   Our annual Christmas Party for 2012 was held January 19, 2013. There were several awards given out to our members. We would like to thank everyone for a safe year in 2012.

The biggest award of the night went to BOD member Allen Robinson. He received the  50 yrs of service award. Allen has served his community with the Alexis Fire Department from Firefighter to Chief and has been on the Board of Directors since 1996. He is also a retired Police Officer.

Firefighter of the Year was Patrick Addington,  Officer of the Year was Barney Smith. We had four members that was involved in a pre hospital save. The preformed CPR on a patient that is alive today. They were Capt. Chad Millsaps, FF Noah Crouse, FF Barrie Walsburger, and FF Lee Abernathy.

There was three members that moved into the Life Membership with serving 20yrs or more. They were Asst Chief Bryan Robinson, Saftey Officere Barney Smith , and FF Larry Guffie.

   


 

SANTA CLAUSE IS COMING TO ALEXIS

Thursday, December 20, 2012  On Saturday, December 22nd,  starting around 10am, the Alexis fire trucks will be taking Santa Clause around the fire district for our annual " SANTA RIDE" Santa will be giving out treat bags to all the good little boys and girls. Be sure to watch for him Saturday December 22nd. From our house to yours " MERRY CHRISTMAS" and may GOD BLESS each and everyone of you this Christmas Season!
