WELCOME TO ALEXIS VFD

Alexis Fire Department is a combination department, protecting approximately 40 square miles and operating out of two stations. The main station is located on Highway 27 in Alexis, NC and our substation is located on Old Plank Road in Iron Station, NC. Our membership is comprised of 45 personnel, most of which are volunteer. Along with the traditional responsibilities of a fire department we also are certified in medical and heavy rescue response, and respond to incidents as such. Since our inception 50 years ago, each member of the department proudly accepts the responsibility the department has to the citizens of the Alexis Fire District, to provide the best fire protection, emergency medical, and rescue services.

LODD DEATH IN ASHEVILLE

Thursday, July 28, 2011     ‎A 13-year veteran of the Asheville Fire Department was fatally injured yesterday while fighting  a four-alarm fire in an office building. Bowen has been with the department since 1998. He lived with his wife Stacy in Alexander. They have 3 children. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family and the Asheville Fire Department. May God be with you all.

   


 

VEHICLE OVERTURNED WITH ONE EJECTED

Thursday, May 26, 2011   Engine 201 and Truck 208 respond to Rhyne Rd for a reported single car MVA. Engine 201 arrived to find a truck that had overturned several time and ejected the driver. There were two other passengers in the truck that we uninjured and refused treatment. The driver was placed in spinal protocol by Engine 201's crew and was transported to GMH with serious injuries.

     



 

SMALL FIRE AT EAST GASTON HIGH SCHOOL

Tuesday, April 19, 2011 17:30 Engine 200 responded mutual aid to assist East Gaston VFD with a fire alarm activated at East Gaston High school. 3001, EG Asst. Chief Brown arrived on the scene to find a smoke in a mechanical room. Engine 300 arrived and sent crews inside the building along with Engine 32 from Community FD. Ladder 34 from Mt. Holly arrived and laddered the building and preformed natural vertical ventilation. Engine 200 arrived and stood by at the plug.  The small fire was contained to the mechanical room and electric fans were used for smoke removal.  All units were clear at 18:40

Friday, April 8, 2011 02:17 Tanker 205 responded to assist Pumpkin Center with a early morning house fire on King Wilkinson Rd. First arriving unit ( Denver Engine 14) found a old two story wood frame structure fully involved. A defensive attack was put into play, a second alarm was struck,  and tanker shuttle operation began. The Lincoln County Fire Marshal's Office was called out to investigate.

   
 

CAR VS TREE ON OLD PLANK RD ( LINCOLN CO )

Wednesday, March 30, 2011 08:05 Engine 203 responded to a reported MVA on Old Plank Rd across from Sigmon Farm Rd. Engine 203 arrived to find a single vehicle accident car struck a tree head on. Patient was still inside the vehicle when we arrived. Patient was free from the vehicle. Engine 203's crew placed the patient in spinal protocol. One patient was transported to Charlotte CMC. Engine 203 cleared the scene at 09.00

     

 

FULLY INVOLVED STORAGE BUILDING FIRE ( GASTON CO )

Tuesday, March 29, 2011 18:30   Engine 201 responded to a reported storage building on fire on Randolph Rd off Mayberry Rd. Engine 201 arrived to find a small storage building on fire, fully involved. Engine 201 laid a 3' supply line from the road down a small driveway to the fire. Tanker 204 arrived and hooked tight to 201 and supplied it with water. Engine 200 and 203 arrived with manpower and stood by with command. The fire was brought under control within 5 minutes of our arrival. Spencer Mt and Stanley Fire arrived and staged on the roadway and sent manpower. East Gaston and Lucia was cancelled. All units were back in service at 19:37

     



 

TAN204KER RESAPONDS MUTUAL AID FOR SOUTH FORK ON STRUCTURE FIRE ( LINCOLN CO )

Monday, March 28, 2011 10:53  Tanker 204 responded to assist Station 7 South Fork with a reported structure fire on Wildale Ln off Ramseur St. Engine 70 arrived to find a single story wood from structure with heavy fire and smoke showing. Engine 70's crew started attacking the fire, while Engine 41 (Boger City ) reverse laid a 5' supply line out the driveway to the street. Tanker 204 arrived and hooked to 41 and supplied water to Engine 70. Alexis Firefighters assisted with overhaul operations after the fire was knocked down. High Shoals VFD also responded to assist along with the Lincoln County Fire Marshal's Office.

     

 

TWO CAR MVA ON HWY 27 ( LINCOLN CO )

Wednesday, March 23, 2011 18:48  Engine's 201 and 203 responded to the intersection of Hwy 27 and Hudson Poultry Rd for a reported motor vehicle accident with a pinn-in. Engine 201 arrived to find a two car t-bone collision with on subject still inside the vehicle. The patient wasn't pinned in the vehicle. Engine 201's crew started patient care and removal of the patient. Engine 203 arrived and dropped a hand line on the ground for fire protection.  Hwy 27 was shut down for about 20 minutes. All Alexis units were clear at 19:17

   
 

BASE 1 AND 2 RESPOND MUTUAL AID FOR LARGE BRUSH FIRE ( LINCOLN CO)

Monday, March 21, 2011 16:00  Engine 203, Tanker 204 , and Brush 207 responded to McIntosh Rd off NC 16 near the Lincoln - Gaston line to assist East Lincoln and Denver Fire with a 3 acre woods for with structures threatened. The fire started from an outside control burn that got out of control. NC Forestry service responded to assist with a dozer. Lucia also responded to assist. All Alexis units were back in service at 18:30 hrs
